Taylor Swift has spoken out about the horrific Southport attack in her new Eras documentary on Disney+. She broke down in tears as she began talking about the incident to the camera, before admitting it was hard for her to explain what had happened. Last year, three schoolgirls were murdered by Axel Rudakubana at the class in Southport, Merseyside. The 18-year-old knifeman killed three children, Elsie Dot Stancombe, Bebe King, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, and was jailed for a minimum of 52 years in January.

In her documentary, Taylor discussed the horrific event and spoke about meeting the families. In the heartbreaking scenes, Taylor promised that she would be putting on a brave face before talking to them, but she fought back tears as she said: “I am going to meet some of these families tonight and put on a pop concert.”

She added: “It’s going to be fine as I’m not going to be doing this [crying]. I am going to be smiling so any of this gets out of the way before you go on stage.”

Taylor admitted she felt like she was skating on thin ice after doing 128 shows after a serious of violent attacks. She added: “We dodged a massacre situation. I have been all over the place.

“There was this horrible attack in Liverpool at a Taylor Swift dance party and it was little kids that…”, at that point Taylor had to stop speaking as she admitted it’s hard for her to say.

Taylor was seen later in the documentary laying down listening to an audiobook after stating that she was nervous, telling producers that it was a “new challenge” and was desperate to keep her nerves away from the crowd, adding: “You’re at the Eras Tour. Nothing is wrong.”

It emerged on the screen that each night Taylor had been meeting with families from the attack, and in one moment she was dressed in her full outfit and had to rush backstage as she sobbed, before being comforted by her mum.

Ed Sheeran later walked in to give Taylor his support ahead of his surprise performance, and Taylor opened up to him after the pair discussed Vienna, which was cancelled after a foiled terror plot.

She told him: “I just need to get through this show. Remember the joy in it because I am a little bit… just like… I get two months after this which I need. You’ve seen my schedule, I am just going to go where no one can find me. I don’t want to be tracked like an animal.

“I have felt very hunted lately. 100% people have forgot I am a human being in all of this.”
