Michael Strahan has been part of Good Morning America for years, in addition to various media roles. However, some fans are wondering if his time on the show is coming to an end. This comes out as Strahan discussed his plans for the future during a recent appearance.
Michael Strahan Joined Good Morning America Back In 2016
Strahan is a former professional football defensive end who played with the New York Giants. Since retiring from the gridiron, however, he has established himself as a media personality.
Strahan has put his football background to use as an analyst on Fox NFL Sunday. From 2012 to 2016, he also worked alongside Kelly Ripa on Live! with Kelly and Michael. However, many may know him best as a co-host on Good Morning America.
Strahan recently made an appearance on the New Heights podcast. This series is hosted by brothers and fellow sports stars Jason and Travis Kelce.
During the conversation, Jason asked his guest what he’s got planned next for his already substantial career. Strahan started things out with one simple word, “Retirement.”
Strahan Previously Talked About His Role On Good Morning America Back In September
Strahan assured, “I love Fox. I truly love that. But you work so much, I want to go here, I want to go there, and I can’t do a lot of things because I’ve got these commitments and schedules and stuff. At this point, I have to look at time lived and time left.”
That said, Strahan said that, even when he retires, he hopes to appear on Fox in the following years. He continued, “I’ll do Fox until they throw me off of Fox. I don’t want to be 80 years old on Fox, but I’ll stick around a little bit longer.”
However, that begs the question of whether he’d like to continue with his role on his ABC daytime show for the time being. As NBC Sports noted, he has already taken on a reduced role on Good Morning America.
Will He Exit?
Currently, Michael Strahan has not shared anything definitive about wanting to leave Good Morning America anytime soon. Back in September, in fact, Strahan previously denied wanting to leave the show. At the time, he shared this: “Oh, I’m not going anywhere, I’m not stepping away from nothing! I can still do all my jobs and work and still have plenty of time to play golf. So, I’ve got the best of both worlds.”
That said, retirement is always going to be on the horizon. As Strahan continues on in his life, he mused during his podcast appearance that “Time lived and time left” is what’s important to him.
