Bruce Springsteen addressed ICE during his surprise appearance at a New Jersey musical festival on Saturday. Bruce has previously called out President Donald Trump and his adminstration
Bruce Springsteen had a fiery message for ICE at a recent concert.
The legendary singer told the federal law enforcement agency, they should “get the f— out of Minneapolis!” Bruce had a surprise performance at the Light of Day festival in New Jersey on Saturday, January 17. Near the end of his performance, the 76-year-old paused his set and took a moment to address the current political climate with Donald Trump’s administration and ICE, amid the unrest following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good. Bruce is a known vocal critic of Trump.
His speech was caught on video by an NJ.com writer. In the video, Bruce first began by explaining the creation of his 1978 track The Promised Land and how it’s a song he wrote as a homage to “American possibility.”

Bruce elaborated, “it was (about) both the beautiful but flawed country that we are, and to the country that we could be.”
Then he went on to condemn what is presently happening in America and Trump’s deployment of ICE. He also urged the audience to speak up against and oppose those actions as well as the policies under Trump and his administration.
“If you believe in democracy, in liberty, if you believe that truth still matters, that it’s worth speaking out, that it is worth fighting for, if you believe in the power of the law and no one stands above it, if you stand against heavily armed masked federal troops invading American cities and using Gestapo tactics against our fellow citizens, if you believe you don’t deserve to be murdered for exercising your American right to protest, then send a message to this president, and as the mayor of that city has said, ‘ICE should get the f— out of Minneapolis,'” Bruce said impassionately.
After his spirited speech, he dedicated his performance of The Promised Land to Renee.
Renee was killed by ICE officer Jonathan Ross while in her vehicle in Minneapolis on January 7. According to a recent incident report obtained by the Guardian, the 37-year-old mother of three was reportedly shot four times.

The late poet had “two apparent gunshot wounds” to the right side of chest, one apparent gunshot wound to her left forearm, and a possible gunshot wound on the left side of her head and a “possible gunshot wound with protruding tissue on the left side of the patient’s head.”
Renee’s death has sparked protests in Minneapolis and nationwide as many are decrying ICE’s actions and demanding justice.
Many other celebrities like Bruce have spoken out about the tragic death such as Amanda Seyfried, Simu Liu and Cynthia Nixon.
At the 83rd Annual Golden Globes, there were celebrities like Mark Ruffalo and Ariana Grande who wore pins against ICE and in honor of Renee which said, “ICE Out” and “Be Good.”
