TODAY’S Savannah Guthrie has confessed to spanking a male colleague during a work holiday party live on-air.
The news anchor made the shocking revelation during her Tuesday appearance on Jenna & Friends.
Savannah, 53, was the guest co-host on the Today show’s fourth hour alongside Jenna Bush Hager, before Sheinelle Jones permanently takes over the role in January.
The ladies did a special holiday version of the segment, Girl Code, where they offered advice to viewers in tricky situations during the festive season.
One fan submitted a conundrum that Savannah related to all too well, as they discussed their “work bestie’s” wild behavior at last year’s boozy office holiday party.
The user wrestled with whether to address her friend’s “inappropriate flirting” with their boss at the event, to avoid another embarrassing mishap this year.
While Jenna, 44, admitted she wasn’t sure how to approach the issue as she’d never been in that situation before, Savannah shared a wild moment of her own at a Today show Christmas bash.
“I just have to say, as someone who has spanked a network correspondent at a holiday party…” the mom of two revealed before Jenna cut her off to jokingly ask if one of the producers submitted the question.
Savannah then clarified her comment, saying, “It was an air spanking, so I don’t think I actually — it wasn’t hand [contact].”
Jenna attempted to get her co-host to reveal who was on the other end of the supposed spanking, but Savannah declined to share their name.
However, she continued to push for more details, asking, “Was it a man or a woman?” to which Savannah quickly responded, “Obviously it was a guy!”
“You’ve spanked me before,” Jenna pointed out.
“Well, yes, and I made contact with you,” Savannah replied. “But we’re at that point, our friendship.”
Savannah then advised the viewer not to bring up her friend’s past actions, saying, “It won’t be well received.”
“She doesn’t remember it. I don’t think any good can come of it,” the TV star added.
“But what if you’re worried about her spanking somebody and getting called into HR?” Jenna asked.
Savannah explained that her approach might be different when involving a “work bestie” rather than a close friend.
“I wouldn’t touch it myself — but I’m wimpy,” she concluded.
Savannah is preparing to take a two-week-long break early in the New Year to undergo surgery, which she revealed on the morning show last week.
The journalist mentioned her voice sounded “scratchy and starting to crack” due to vocal nodules and a polyp.
Savannah assured fans that it wasn’t a “big deal” and that she was getting a procedure to fix the issue.
She also said that she’ll have to remain silent during her recovery.
