LIVE TV SH0CK: Amy Sedaris Accidentally SWEARS on CNN New Year’s Eve Broadcast — Viewers Stunned

Comedian Amy Sedaris accidentally swore on CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live 2026 broadcast while chatting with hosts Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen after talking about Stephen Colbert

A CNN New Year’s Eve Live guest accidentally dropped an F-bomb on air moments after chatting about Stephen Colbert with hosts Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen.

The yearly New Year’s Eve broadcast, helmed by the seasoned news anchor and Bravo executive, kicked off with an entertaining mishap for viewers watching the 2026 show, as they brought on guests to ring in the new year, including comedian and actress Amy Sedaris.

But things went sideways shortly after Sedaris discussed her close friend, Stephen Colbert, who was recently branded a “D3ad man walking” by Pres!dent T.r.u.m.p. Sedaris, 64, joined Cohen and Cooper from their Times Square location as they began ushering in the New Year.

The duo immediately questioned her about her bond with Colbert, who was also set to make an appearance on the program. Shortly afterward, she let slip a curse word that CNN appeared to completely overlook, reports the Irish Star.

The three initially discussed Colbert, highlighting his and Sedaris’s enduring friendship, and peppered her with questions about the Late Night host, whose program will conclude in 2026.

“What’s one thing about Colbert that would surprise us?” Cohen inquired.

“Oh gosh…smartest person I know, very high reference level, he got that southern charm that he can pull out of his back pocket,” she responded. The conversation shifted to viewer questions seeking advice on various scenarios, from gift-giving to spouses to social predicaments.

Cooper then posed a question that prompted an expletive from Sedaris—which CNN seemingly missed, failing to censor the profanity.

“What’s the number one best excuse to get out of a prior commitment?” Cooper inquired.

“I say, nothing, anything after because is bulls–t,” Sedaris responded.

This created a momentary uncomfortable silence among the hosts, with Cohen eventually breaking it by saying “well…” Sedaris then seemed to catch her error.

“Oh I can’t say that? Sorry,” Sedaris apologized while making a sheepish expression.

The incident occurred before Colbert’s anticipated guest spot on the show, as he prepares for the concluding year of his program, which is wrapping up its run after CBS decided to cancel the late-night series.

Colbert broke the news to his audience during the summer, shortly after criticizing CBS’ parent company Paramount’s legal settlement with D0nald T.r.u.m.p.

“Before we start the show, I want to let you know something that I found out just last night. Next year will be our last season. The network will be ending ‘The Late Show’ in May,'” he announced at the time.

“It’s not just the end of our show, but it’s the end of ‘The Late Show’ on CBS. I’m not being replaced. This is all just going away.”
