According to Deadline, the pair’s episodes will air in April and their characters’ appearance will have “shocking” results for the other characters on the show.

Shemar, who later went on to a starring role on crime drama Criminal Minds made his name on the long-running soap when he first joined The Young and the Restless in 1994 and played Malcolm Winters for 11 years.

That role would propel him to fame and Shemar returned multiple times over the years for special appearances including the most recent in 2023 for the soap’s 50th anniversary.

Shemar won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama series and eight NAACP Image Awards for his performance.

Vivica who starred in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill movies started in show business on TV show Soul Train and joined Young and the Restless in 1994 for one year.

She played Dr Stephanie Simmons and is coming back to the soap for the first time since she first left.

The actress announced their return on Instagram.

“SURPRISE Dawlings! Ya gurl @msvfox & @shemarfmoore are returning to @youngandtherestlesscbs as Dr Stephanie Simmons & Malcolm! Much LUV to @youngandrestlesscbs for this AMAZING reunion!” she wrote.

Vivica’s fans rushed to congratulate her on the huge news.

“Oh Yeah, Congratulations,” wrote one person in the comments.

Another added: “Yesssssssssss & Yassssssssssssss.”

And a third commented: “Woot woot.”

Shemar previously spoke about why it was important for him to return to the shows that made him famous.

Speaking to First For Women, the actor reflected on leaving shows like The Young and the Restless in September 2005 as well as Criminal Minds.

“In 30 years, the longest I’ve gone unemployed is four months — at whatever level, I stayed in the game, hustling,” he said.

“If The Young and the Restless called me today, I would go. If Criminal Minds asked me to come back, I’d go,” the actor added.

“Because you never forget where you came from. It sounds cliche and maybe cheesy, but it’s also true.”
