TV DRAMA Inside Sheryl Underwood’s ‘toxic’ relationship with past co-hosts as she replaces Joy Behar on The View

WHILE Sheryl Underwood is known as a prominent figure in daytime TV, rumors have circulated that she isn’t the easiest to work beside.

The TV star is filling in as a co-host on The View for several days while Joy Behar is away, and it’s not lost on fans that she’s allegedly been at the center of workplace drama in the past.

However, she allegedly didn’t see eye to eye with many of her co-hosts over the years, making it nearly impossible for some of them to work with her.

Shortly before the daytime show said its farewell, a show insider exclusively told The U.S. Sun that Sheryl would often distance herself from her co-hosts.

This included the very sociable Jerry O’Connell, who regularly made an effort to interact with the cast, crew, and audience during commercial breaks.

The insider claimed that Sheryl generally retreated backstage by herself and, when she was onstage with the cast, would sit alone, texting on her phone.

They added that the vibe appeared much more “tense” and “serious” when Sheryl was around, compared to when it was just Jerry and their other co-hosts, Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, and Natalie Morales.

Similar observations were relayed by another source, who exclusively told The U.S. Sun that Sheryl “forced out” her former co-hosts, Carrie Ann Inaba and Sharon Osbourne.

They alleged that the TV personality “refused to speak to people and walked out of meetings if they didn’t go her way,” creating a “toxic work environment” all around.

Sheryl was a permanent co-host throughout the long-running talk show, while Carrie Ann and Sharon left around the same time in the spring of 2021.

Sharon exited the show after a heated debate with Sheryl, during which she defended her friend, Piers Morgan, on a live broadcast.

Carrie Ann left a month later to prioritize her health and focus on her longstanding role as a judge on Dancing with the Stars.

However, The U.S. Sun exclusively learned that Sheryl also allegedly contributed to her former co-hosts’ departure because she was “very difficult to work with.”

Days before the series finale, a source claimed that Sharon and other former co-hosts refused to appear in the final season to avoid run-ins with Sheryl.

They also claimed that Sheryl would be “vindictive” and had a big ego, believing she was the “top dog” on the show.

After taking years off from daytime TV, the controversial star is now stepping back into a co-hosting role as a temporary replacement for Joy on The View.

Joy announced last week that she’d be absent for the next couple of weeks as she heads to London for an international tour of her play, My First Ex-Husband.

Sheryl and tech journalist Kara Swisher were revealed to be her fill-ins while she was gone, though it’s unclear which dates they will join the panel.

The View’s other regular panelists, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin appeared on Monday’s episode.
