The primetime television special Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan’s Fight Against Cancer premiered Wednesday night and tells the story of Michael Strahan’s daughter’s courageous battle against cancer. While Isabella has been open about her battles, the special indicates that she knows the battle is not over with.
Here is what Isabella said to fellow cancer survivor Robin Roberts about her future battle against this deadly disease.
Isabella Strahan Still Facing Cancer Battle
Isabella Strahan was preparing to start her freshman year of college at USC in 2023 when she began to experience headaches. She learned she had brain cancer and began chemotherapy and treatment. This includes surgeries where she had to have holes drilled in her head to release fluid.

By June 2024, Isabella finally finished her treatment and rang the bell to go home. Throughout her journey, she released vlog updates on her YouTube page and kept her fans in the loop. Michael Strahan said he had never watched the videos, and anyone else who had missed them could now learn her story with the ABC special.
Robin Roberts, who herself battled and beat cancer, spoke with Isabella this Wednesday on Good Morning America about the documentary. Robin admitted that this is not the end of the journey and there will be a “next chapter” for the young woman in her battle with cancer.
That is when Isabella explained what was next for her cancer battle.
Isabella Strahan Reveals Next Steps In Cancer Battle
Isabella Strahan revealed to Robin Roberts that she underwent three brain surgeries in addition to the chemotherapy. Robin said it was great to see Isabella ringing the bell at the end, but then mentioned that her road wasn’t finished yet.
Isabella admitted that Robin was right. She will have to go in and get an MRI every three months to ensure there are no issues following the chemotherapy. “That’s going to continue for a while. Just for me, I’m trying to gain some weight and muscle back. I think that’s something I lost just with chemo and not moving around as much,” Isabella said (via YouTube).
She also said she has to work on her balance, which she had to relearn after the brain surgeries. “I think it’s always important to trust yourself and trust your body,” she admitted. She said her goal now is to improve in the “little ways” to make progress.
She is also back at college, finally getting her college career started at USC.
Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan’s Fight Against Cancer premiered Wednesday night on ABC. Now that it has aired, fans can also watch the documentary on Hulu.
