United States Attorney General Pam Bondi, 60, became emotional during her press conference on Friday as she spoke about her personal connection with Today Show anchor Savannah Guthrie, 54, amid the investigation of her mother’s disappearance.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing on February 1 after failing to show up for her regular 11 a.m. church service in Tucson, Arizona. The mother of the Today Show anchor was last spotted the evening before, when her son-in-law dropped her off at home after a family meal. After authorities were notified of her vanishing, investigators quickly found blood at Guthrie’s entrance and evidence of a forced entry, suggesting she may have been abducted.

During the Fox News broadcast of The Story with Martha McCallum on Friday, a Senior White House correspondent, Peter Doocy, 38, spoke to viewers before sharing footage from the Attorney General’s press conference.

Doocy said, “What’s unique about this Nancy Guthrie case —  as a missing persons case — is that top policy makers involved with the allocation of resources here in Washington have personal connections to the Guthrie family, including the Attorney General Pam Bondi.”

“But she says the locals are still taking the lead,” he pointed out.

During her press conference, Bondi said, “We’re doing everything to assist the locals. We’re working with the locals. That’s all we can say at this time.”

Her voice cracked as she added, “I’ve known Savannah for 30 years, and it’s breaking my heart.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is leading the investigation into the disappearance of Savannah’s mother.

During his press conference on Thursday, Nanos discussed  the possibility of potential suspects and said, “We’re actively looking at everybody we come across in this case. Everybody. It would be irresponsible not to talk to everybody. The Uber driver, the gardener, the pool person. Everybody – this is so cliché – but everybody’s still a suspect in our eyes. It’s just how we look at things and think as cops.”

“Does that mean we have a suspect? No, the family has been very cooperative,” he finished.

As of now, there are no suspects, no person of interest in the investigation.

This comes after Savannah sent a public message to her mother’s kidnappers on Wednesday night. In an Instagram video, the NBC star said that her family is ready to talk, but wanted proof that her mother is alive.

“We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated,” she said while fighting back tears.

“We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please reach out to us,” Guthrie pressed.

Savannah addressed her mother directly and added, “Mommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman. You are God’s precious daughter,” she said.
