Speaking with Radar Online, however, inside sources recently shared that the current GMA panel could soon change. As the outlet noted, this could be in response to Today beating the series in the ratings.

According to the insiders, the show’s current atmosphere could be described as being in “absolute meltdown mode.” According to them, even some of the network’s bigger names, including Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos, might not be safe from an upcoming overhaul.

The Insiders Warned, ‘Nobody Is Safe,’ Should The Higher-Ups Want An Overhaul

The sources claim that producers are considering various options. This could include new editorial directions, an anchor reshuffle, and possibly bringing in “fresh, younger energy.” As one insider was quoted, “If leadership wants a shake‑up, nobody is safe.”

According to NBCUniversal News Group, it was reported on December 3, 2025, that NBC News’ Today “was the #1 morning show in total viewers for the fifth consecutive week.” The newscast was described as “delivering its best weekly audience in two years (since November 20, 2023) and its strongest five-week streak since January 2025.”

Later, it was shared, “Week over week, Today added more total viewers than GMA and CBS combined, growing its lead seven-fold vs. GMA and boosting its advantage over CBS by 36%. Year over year, Today was the only morning show to grow, widening its lead over GMA by 73% and over CBS by 18%.”

Taking to social media, fans have shared various reactions to the idea. Some noted that recent changes the show has undergone, such as changing studios, might also be impacting things. A few even weighed in on the rivalry with Today. Some comments included:

  • “Been watching GMA for a very long time. I have gotten to like weekend GMA better. Gma 3 is a mess lately”
  • “Moving the studio to the middle of nowhere didn’t help. Being in Time Sq was the heart of show.”
  • “I’m Today Show M-F. GMA Sat and Sun.”
  • “I don’t know why. I love Good Morning America.”
