WARNING – DISTRESSING CONTENT: Three teenage sisters died after falling from their ninth-floor apartment balcony in Ghaziabad, India, following a dispute over confiscated cell phones.

Three sisters tragically lost their lives after falling from the balcony of their ninth-floor apartment following the confiscation of their cell phones by their parents.

The tragedy unfolded at approximately 2.15 am on Wednesday in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, according to local reports. The three siblings, Vishika, 16, Prachi, 14, and Pakhi, 12, are believed to have become distraught after their father took away their phones.

Local residents reported that the girls locked themselves onto the balcony during the early morning hours of February 4, securing the door to keep their parents out.

 

Their cries were so piercing that they disturbed neighbors and security personnel throughout the apartment complex.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Atul Kumar Singh informed local media: “When we reached the scene, we confirmed that three girls, daughters of Chetan Kumar, had died after jumping from the building.”

The precise details surrounding the incident remain uncertain, with investigators exploring the possibility that two of the sisters may have fallen while attempting to stop a third from jumping, reports the Express.

The siblings were passionate enthusiasts of Korean culture and K-pop music, having recently adopted Korean names for themselves.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Nimish Patel noted: “For the past few days, they had been denied access to a mobile phone, a restriction that appeared to have affected them.”

Authorities also revealed that they discovered an eight-page suicide note within the apartment. The girls’ father, Chetan Kumar, recounted what he had discovered in the note.

He stated the message read: “Papa, sorry, Korea is our life, Korea is our biggest love, whatever you say, we cannot give it up. So we are killing ourselves.

“You tried to distance us from Koreans, but now you know how much we love Koreans.”

Mr Kumar continued: “This should not happen to any parent or child.”

Local resident Arun Singh recounted to local media how he had observed figures on the balcony as he was getting ready for bed.

 

He explained, “I couldn’t figure out if it was a man or a woman since I was standing at a distance. I called my wife and said that someone was trying to jump and I should do something.

“My partner suggested that it must be a marital dispute. I thought it was a couple; a man trying to jump while the wife was trying to stop him.

“A small girl came and hugged the person sitting on the railing tightly. Before I could get my phone and call someone to stop the person from jumping, all three – the person sitting on the railing and two girls trying to pull them down – fell off the balcony.

“One of them seemed determined to jump while the two others were trying to save them, but all three fell headfirst.”
