The American Idol star has opened his heart at the most difficult time of the year…
Ryan Seacrest has shared a deeply emotional update with fans as he marked his first Christmas without his father, just months after his heartbreaking death.
The beloved TV presenter, known worldwide for hosting American Idol and Wheel of Fortune, took to Instagram to reflect on the overwhelming emotions he felt during the festive season — a time once filled with his dad’s presence.
Alongside a series of family photos from Christmas dinner, Ryan wrote:
“First Christmas without Dad, but holding him close in all the ways we can. We miss you. Merry Heavenly Christmas.”
The post struck a powerful chord with fans, many of whom admitted they too are struggling through the holidays after losing loved ones.

Several touching images showed Ryan with his mum Connie, smiling while preparing food, as well as throwback snaps of the family together before the passing of his father Gary Seacrest.

Another photo captured the Seacrest family in matching Christmas pyjamas, sitting around the tree as a young girl opened presents — a bittersweet moment marking their first festive season without Gary.

For Ryan, the holiday brought a storm of emotions — grief, sadness and a deep longing for the comforting presence of his dad.
Moments like Christmas, which are usually filled with joy and tradition, often reopen old wounds, and Ryan’s honesty was a reminder that fame offers no shield from loss.

Fans quickly flooded the comments with love and support.
Fellow TV host Mario Lopez wrote:
“Merry Christmas & God Bless bro!”
One fan commented:
“That first year of an empty chair is always the toughest. Merry Christmas to all of you.”

Another added:
“He is in heaven and so proud of you. This is a loss for you and Meredith, but you will be reunited.”

Ryan has previously documented his father Gary’s long battle with cancer.
When the Atlanta-based attorney passed away in October 2025, Ryan announced the devastating news online, writing:
“It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that my loving father peacefully passed away earlier this week. We are heartbroken. He was a devoted husband for 56 years, an incredible Papa to Flora, and my best friend.”
Through his Christmas tribute, Ryan not only honoured his father’s memory, but also gave comfort to countless people silently carrying their own grief this holiday season.
His message serves as a gentle reminder that it’s okay to mourn — and that reaching out, even in pain, can help others feel less alone.
