Savannah Guthrie Finally Returns To Morning Show

Months after Hoda Kotb left the Today Show, Savannah Guthrie revealed her own departure. She temporarily had to step away from the morning news program amid a serious health issue. She had to have surgery on her vocal cords, leaving her unable to talk for a few weeks. After several weeks at home, Savannah Guthrie is finally ready to make a comeback.

Today Host Breaks Silence On Failed Marriage

Hoda Kotb left Today to spend more time with her kids and launch the wellness platform Joy 101. Part of the platform is a new series, Joy Rides. Savannah Guthrie was the first guest, riding New York City’s Rockefeller Center with Hoda Kotb, chatting along the way.

Savannah Guthrie has kept the details of her divorce mostly to herself. She was married to BBC journalist Mark Orchard for just under four years. They tied the knot in 2005 before splitting in 2009. “It was horrible and sad, and it broke my heart, and it took me years to recover,” Savannah Guthrie said on Monica Lewinsky’s podcast last year. She refused to say more than that.

The topic of her divorce came up during her ride with Hoda Kotb. Savannah Guthrie briefly touched on the sore subject.

“I was in my 30s. I felt old, but I now see that I was pretty young, and I was sad about it. And I was also starting a new job at a place called NBC and trying really hard to make my way and make my little dream come true while other dreams were falling apart.”

“I felt like a failure,” the Today host admitted.

She credited her deep faith in God for getting her through the heartbreak. “I realized I didn’t have to be perfect to be loved by God. I didn’t even have to be close because I was definitely a failure. And I really felt loved and carried by God, and that was such an important, integral moment of life,” Savannah Guthrie said.

She’s Happily Married Now

While Savannah Guthrie’s first marriage ended in heartbreak, she found love again. She’s been married to Michael Feldman since 2014. They share two children: daughter Vale and son Charley.

She met her second husband, a former political advisor, in 2008 and they started dating after her divorce. They dated for over five years before marrying.
