On April 6, Savannah Guthrie returned to her anchoring spot on the Today show two months after her mother Nancy disappeared from her home in Tucson, Arizona.

Savannah Guthrie has officially returned to the Today show.

The 54-year-old anchor has been absent from the morning broadcast for over two months. She stepped away unexpectedly to assist the FBI and Tucson authorities in locating her 84-year-old mother, Nancy, who went missing from her Arizona home on February 1.

After a mystery man who claimed he “saw Nancy 5 days ago” offered chilling new proof, Savannah finally returned on April 6. During her first episode back, her co-star, Al Roker couldn’t help but have a moment as he said, “Well, I just like looking over here,” gesturing over to Craig Melvin and Savannath Guthrie.

Savannah was touched as she responded, “Aw, good morning sunshine.”

Before getting into his weather forecast, he said, “Good to see you my dear,” sending an air kiss her way.

Between the current Today show hosts, Savannah and Al have spent the most time together on the show. The weatherman currently holds the longest tenure, with his debut airing in January 1996. Savannah joined her co-star in June 2011.

Although Savannah has returned, she continues “holding onto faith” that her mother will be located.

Savannah and the rest of her family learned she was missing on February 1, when she failed to attend her local mass. Shortly after that, the Pima County Sheriff’s office deemed her home a “crime scene” after discovering concerning evidence inside the property.

Sheriff Chris Nanos has since described the incident as a “kidnapping,” saying, “We believe we know why he did this, and we believe that it was targeted.”

Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI have fielded over 40,000 to 50,000 potential leads and tips.

Investigators are narrowing the leads by focusing on the ones related to the masked suspect on Nancy’s Google Nest.

A few weeks after the incident, the FBI released footage from Nancy’s Google Nest that shows a potential subject wearing dark gloves as he walked up to her front door. Along with gloves, the subject was also wearing a zip-up hoodie, a pair of sweats, a backpack and a balaclava.

Despite finding a visual of the potential subject, the authorities have yet to name a suspect nor find Nancy.

Savannah’s family is offering a reward of up to $1 million for the recovery of her mother.

The host’s return comes as the mysterious disappearance of an Air Force general has several chilling similarities to the Nancy case.
