As CBS News currently undergoes a major shakeup, CBS Mornings is expected to undergo further big changes after an executive producer announced they were leaving. Information was notably shared during an internal memo. This also comes out amid other news confirming the fate of some other CBS Mornings alumni.
Viewers Have Seen Various Figures Come & Go On CBS Mornings
CBS Mornings made its debut back in 2021. The New York-based series is considered a predecessor to The Early Show and CBS This Morning.
Over the years, viewers have seen a number of changes occur on the series. Recently, for example, Tony Dokoupil left the show after joining CBS Evening News earlier this year. Currently, the show’s co-hosts are Gayle King, Nate Burleson, and Vladimir Duthiers.

Recently, executive producer Shawna Thomas announced her exit from the series. At the time, she shared a memo to staffers explaining her decision.
As shared by Variety, Thomas has announced. “For five years, I’ve tried to make this show something you all want to watch. Want to be a part of. Want to learn from.”
As Thomas continued, “I’ve had the privilege of helping to make 10 (now 12!) hours of television each week that goes out free to people everywhere. I’ve taken that responsibility of trying to inform, educate, entertain and make people care about the world around them very seriously and I know the people here do, too.”
Shawna Thomas Is Expected To Leave The Series By The End Of The Month
Notably, this comes out as viewers have seen a lot of changes at CBS News amid the recent installation of Bari Weiss as editor-in-chief. However, Thomas’ exit also comes out as Gayle King and Nate Burleson recently confirmed that they would currently stay with the show.
According to Fox News Digital, Thomas shared that she was happy that King was able to strike a deal with the network. She also praised King’s “to bring her bright shiny face and amazing interviewing skills.”
Throughout the memo, Thomas emphasized that her decision wasn’t made lightly. She also emphasized that her exit wasn’t going to be immediate, but she would start preparing the program for her eventual departure. As she wrote, “I’m tired y’all. I will be thanking everyone I possibly can with my voice and my face. Especially Jon Tower and Peter Burgess, who I will be transitioning things over to, in the coming weeks.”
As the outlet noted, CBS News President Tom Cibrowski confirmed that she would be leaving towards the end of the month. It was also confirmed that Jon Tower would oversee the show in the interim.
