DOCTOR Jen Ashton is proving age is just a number.
The former Good Morning America chief medical correspondent shared a unique technology with her latest wellness adventure.
The 56-year-old physician shared her cold plunge experience on a post on Instagram, showcasing her incredibly fit physique in a strapless black swimsuit.
Dr. Ashton described the icy dip as “brutal,” but the wellness enthusiast is no stranger to pushing her limits.
The OB-GYN and obesity medicine specialist has been an advocate for cold-plunge therapy, previously testing out ice baths with ABC News’ Sam Champion to explore the trending wellness practice.
The caption on the post stated: “Five minutes in a 55° cold plunge.
It felt… much longer. After four days of intense workouts, I genuinely needed it. And as brutal as it is in the moment, you feel amazing afterward.”
She went on to explain, “Cold exposure can be beneficial for the nervous system, may help with inflammation, and works through a concept called hormesis — basically, small, controlled stressors that train your body to become more resilient.”
The former ABC News correspondent has been documenting her impressive fitness transformation over the past year through her wellness experiment.
Her journey has resulted in a toned, strong physique that she regularly showcases in swimsuit photos on Instagram.
Interestingly, getting in the best shape of her life didn’t mean losing weight — Dr. Ashton actually gained six pounds while building muscle and improving her overall fitness.
Dr. Ashton worked with personal trainer Korey Rowe to achieve her goals, admitting that despite going to the gym five days a week before, she “wasn’t fit.”
She realized this when she would get out of breath while dancing at parties or see herself in the mirror as what she called “skinny fat.”
Since leaving ABC News in June 2024 after 13 years, Dr. Ashton has focused on her wellness company, Ajenda, which addresses menopause health and weight management.
The physician has been transparent about her fitness journey, sharing progress photos that don’t hide what it’s like to get older as a woman while demonstrating what dedication can achieve.
“That word is just gold, because that’s why I became a doctor,” she said about fans calling her an inspiration.
Her cold plunge in a black swimsuit is just the latest example of Dr. Ashton practicing what she preaches when it comes to wellness and healthy aging.
Fans have praised her transformation, with one writing, “You look healthy and amazing.”
Another added, “You’re a force, doctor… great example and role model.”
At 56, Dr. Jen Ashton continues to show that strength, fitness, and wellness have no age limit.
