Aerial images, captured on February 7, show just how isolated Nancy Guthrie’s home is, as experts have concerns that her abductors may disappear into the desert

New aerial images have shown how truly vast the desert surrounding Nancy Guthrie’s isolated home is.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing on February 1 after she failed to attend her usual Sunday morning church service.
After her family was alerted by a concerned congregant, the police investigated Nancy’s Tucson, Arizona, home, finding blood on her front door and signs of forced entry. Officers believe that Nancy, who is the mother of Today Show host Savannah Guthrie, was taken from her bedroom in the night, with her Apple Watch no longer syncing to her pacemaker as of 2am on that Sunday morning.
After Nancy’s disappearance was made public, the local Tucson TV network, KOLD, received two ransom notes, but law enforcement officers are still working to confirm their authenticity.
With Nancy’s kidnapping now being highly publicized, there has been curiosity surrounding the location of her $1 million house, with its rural location leading experts to believe her captors may never be found.

The 84-year-old mother of three lives alone in a ranch-style brick home located in the Catalina Foothills, an unincorporated community about six miles north of Tucson, Arizona.
Nancy has owned the property, which features a swimming pool and outbuilding, for more than 50 years and it’s said to have been the childhood home of her children.
In the recently photographed images of Nancy’s home, the stunning house can be seen nestled in the vast, desolate desert, which stretches for what appears to be miles around the property line.
And while other homes can be seen dotted around the neighborhood, they are separated by sandy areas, which are covered with dense trees and bushes.
And it’s this landscape that one expert explained could be the reason Nancy Guthrie’s captors may never be caught.

In comments to the Daily Mail, Art Del Cueto, an experienced US Customs and Border Protection officer from the local area, suggested the surrounding barren landscape could complicate efforts to solve the case.
The border agent, who has spent years tracking individuals through Tucson’s challenging terrain and participated in numerous search-and-rescue operations, believes that the suspect may never be found due to the remote and dense desert vegetation surrounding Nancy’s home.
He also highlighted the city’s proximity to the Mexican border, suggesting that the suspect could easily evade detection by heading south.
“We’re on the southern border. You’re dealing with international crime all the time, and there are just too many variables to rule anything out,” Del Cueto explained, before suggesting that the location of the home might be why investigators are keeping details about the case under wraps.
“If somebody gets spooked, they can make it into Mexico in under an hour-and-a-half – that’s why authorities may not be sharing everything they know,” the seasoned officer asserted.
