Good Morning America host Michael Strahan made things a little awkward for one colleague after a serious on-air debacle.
When it comes to sharing news about your colleagues’ lives on the air, all news anchors tend to live by the “less is more” philosophy. While they may chat on air about their lives, everyone respects each other’s privacy. At least, until Michael let a little bit of info slip about co-host Robin Roberts. Read on to find out what info he dropped that Robin probably wishes he could take back.
Robin Roberts’ Wedding Is Coming
Robin Roberts has been with her fiance Amber Laign for 18 years. They met on a blind date in 2005 and publicly revealed their relationship in 2013. In her 2014 memoir, Everybody’s Got Something, Robin announced that when they met, Amber did not realize Robin was the famous GMA anchor. She had never seen her on the air, which means that Robin had a chance to start a relationship with someone who didn’t only see her as a television star.
In 2022, the duo weathered some difficult times when Amber was diagnosed with breast cancer. Amber underwent treatment, and Robin stayed by her side. In early 2023, Robin and Amber announced they would get married. So far, they have kept their wedding date under wraps.
She did, however, drop a little hint as to when the nuptials would take place, in a social media post. Robin captioned it, “Good morning! #GlamFam & I are small but mighty this morn! Not gonna stop us from sharing with you a bit of #WednesdayWisdom #cmon.” However, it was a reply to the comment that gave people the biggest hint of what to expect. A fan asked, “August brides? Love you RR!” Robin replied, “Not August, but you’re close!”
GMA‘s Michael Strahan Makes A Serious On-Air Debacle
Now, thanks to Michael Strahan, fans have a different timeline in mind.
On Wednesday, the GMA studio was celebrating Robin and Amber’s bachelorette party. They called the episode, “Road to the Ring Bachelorette Party.” Michael brought the audience back from a commercial break by explaining that the “bachelorette party was still in full swing.”
Michael then explained that the wedding would be “in a few weeks.” Michael’s timeline is a little different from what Robin explained to fans in her social media post. And that little bit of information changes the “when” of fans’ expectations for Robin‘s big wedding day.
