As much as Good Morning America viewers love anchors like Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan, they have been a big target, drawing the ire of staff who have been laid off in favor of these celeb personalities. So, what’s the latest on this, as well as the reason for the discontent?
Robin Roberts And Michael Strahan Are Big Draws On Good Morning America
Without question, popular celeb anchors on shows like Good Morning America can make or break a show. There needs to be the right roster of talent, as well as the right level of chemistry to make things work. Viewers see this on shows like Today since the departure of Hoda Kotb, as producers have been scrambling to recapture that winning formula.
So, when Good Morning America has a star roster that features Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan, and more, it also makes sense for them to be paid big bucks to stick around. However, with the recent staff layoffs on GMA, these hosts making money while others are losing their jobs is not sitting well with a lot of people.

Insider Says GMA Staff Is Fuming
Based on the latest Good Morning America tea from insiders, many people are fuming over the recent layoffs of staff members. One employee even referred to these recent cuts as a “massacre.” However, what is really grinding people’s gears is the fact that these layoffs are happening while people like Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan appear to be gaining from it.
One insider recently told The US Sun: “There is a lot of resentment that all these employees are losing their jobs making $100,000 or $150,000 a year, but Robin is making $20 million, Michael is making $17 million and George, who gets sued for $15 million, still gets his $18 million salary. People think it’s just not fair.”
While it certainly makes sense to pay your big talent the big bucks, it’s also clear that other people who were part of making Good Morning America work that have now lost their jobs feel slighted by this, and many don’t blame them for feeling some resentment, either.

Good Morning America Insider Opens Up About The Trickle-Down Effect
With this shakeup going on at Good Morning America, the insider had more to say. The inside source continued, adding: “The people at the bottom are getting hit the worst, it might seem illogical but people think maybe the big talent should take the pay cut instead.”
It turns out, another recent industry insider also piled on. This has been a major turn of events, and many have a lot to say about it, including people in the industry with years of knowledge and experience when it comes to knowing the ins and outs of what makes a machine like Good Morning America run.

This second insider said: “Little by little, this is all going away. These bigger salaries are all going away. George was recently renewed, but the news industry just can’t keep supporting these salaries anymore.”
