Michael Strahan has become close to Robin Roberts during their time on Good Morning America. The two developed great chemistry during the morning talk show, and it seems they are also there for each other when they need someone to talk to. According to Strahan, Robin was one of the people there to help him when his daughter Isabella went through her cancer battle.

Robin Roberts Gave Michael Strahan Advice During Isabella’s Cancer Battle
Just when Isabella Strahan was heading to college after high school graduation, she got life-altering news. The teenager learned she had brain cancer. She had to stop her college career and start chemotherapy. She had more than one surgery where she had to have a hole drilled in her head to release fluids.
It was a terrible time in her life, as well as that of her father, Michael Strahan. However, the family stuck together, and in June 2024, Isabella was able to ring the bell and declare herself cancer-free. While Isabella made her entire journey public on her YouTube page, Michael struggled as well but kept it mostly to himself.
Now, the two will appear on a primetime special that will detail her courageous battle and journey to recovery. Life Interrupted: Isabella’s Fight Against Cancer airs on ABC on Wednesday, February 5 at 10/9c. Michael, Isabella, and more of their family members will be on hand to discuss her cancer battle for the special.
However, it was nice to have Robin Roberts by his side. She had been through something similar and was there to offer encouragement.
Robin Roberts Watched A Loved One In A Cancer Battle As Well
Michael Strahan said he was there for his daughter as much as he could be. He also mentioned that Robin Roberts reached out and offered him support and helpful advice during this difficult time.
Robin Roberts had a breast cancer diagnosis in 2007, which required surgery and chemotherapy as well. She went public, much like Isabella, to help raise cancer awareness. Four years later, she received an MDS diagnosis and also went public with that.
Her wife Amber received a breast cancer diagnosis in 2021, and Robin was there for her chemotherapy journey and knows what Michael and Isabella went through from both sides. She made sure to offer Michael advice on how to handle this tough time.
“She said, ‘You think when you have cancer you’re going to wake up every day and think, Oh, I have cancer.’ But she said, ‘At some point, you wake up and you just live. You don’t even think about it,’” Michael explained.
