Lara Spencer is saying goodbye to someone special.

On February 16, fans of the Good Morning America star were saddened to learn that Lara’s mother, Carolyn Von Seelen, died on February 13. The news anchor shared the news with her followers in a heartfelt tribute to her mom on Instagram.

Lara shared that Carolyn made an impression on everyone she met and that she was grateful for the time they had together.

“There’s no way to not feel the pain of overwhelming sadness at the thought of not having you to share life with each day, but we sure are grateful YOU happened and showered us with your loving warmth and humor,” she wrote in the caption. “Our loving mom, grandmother to 12 and great-grandmother to 4, left us on Friday the 13TH (which we know she would have gotten a kick out of), surrounded by her children and her beloved rescue dog, to reunite with my Dad and our sister Pamela. We love you always and forever mom.”
