Bad Bunny’s upcoming performance at the Super Bowl has led MAGA voices to call for a boycott of the popular halftime show.

The NFL faced backlash from Trump supporters after the Puerto Rican star, 31, was announced as the headliner of the show on February 8, as the Seattle Seahawks face off against the New England Patriots.

The outrage went so far that Turning Point USA – a non-profit organization founded by Charlie Kirk and now helmed by his wife, Erika Kirk, following the activist’s assassination in September 2025 – announced its own alternative halftime show, which will air at the same time as the NFL championship game’s performance.

On Monday, February 2, Turning Point USA announced Kid Rock – a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump – as the headliner of the show.

The Detroit rocker, 55, will be joined by Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett at the event, which has been dubbed, “The All-American Halftime Show.”

“We’re approaching this show like David and Goliath,” Kid Rock said in a statement. “Competing with the pro football machine and a global pop superstar is almost impossible…or is it?”

The alternate halftime show kicks off around 8 p.m., right when Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, is set to take the stage during the Super Bowl in Santa Clara, California.

Rock added, “He’s said he’s having a dance party, wearing a dress, and singing in Spanish? Cool. We plan to play great songs for folks who love America.”

Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet told Fox News Digital that the alternative broadcast aims to give families another viewing option and, unlike the Super Bowl halftime show which is held at a stadium, the Turning Point USA performance “lets the viewer up close and personal.”

“The All-American Halftime Show’ is an opportunity for all Americans to enjoy a halftime show with no agenda other than to celebrate faith, family, and freedom,” Kolvet said.

He added, “We can’t wait to watch the incredible show they’re about to put on. We know millions around the country will be watching too.”

The show will air on several platforms including Turning Point USA’s social media channels on YouTube, X and Rumble, on The Charlie Kirk show on YouTube and Rumble, as well as Daily Wire+, Real America’s Voice, TBN, Charge!, The National News Desk, NTD and Oan News.

The announcement was met with ridicule on social media, with one user writing, “This is embarrassing, just like America right now.” Another quipped, “Damn – I’d be hard pressed to come up with a worse list!”

Another viewer added, “Wow, that is must miss TV right there.”

One Kid Rock critic weighed in on social media, writing, “Imagine how sad it would feel to know you would never perform at the Super Bowl halftime show and had to create a pity event for yourselves.”

Another sarcastically commented, “Maybe they should just cancel the Super Bowl, I don’t know how they’ll compete with this list of extraordinary talent.”

Last year, over 130 million people tuned in to Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show despite calls from conservatives to boycott the Grammy winner’s performance.

Bad Bunny, who recently won album of the year at the 2026 Grammy Awards, is set to make history as the first male Latin performer to headline the iconic halftime show.

The superstar, a US citizen born in Puerto Rico, has been outspoken in his opposition to the Trump administration and even used his acceptance speech at the Grammys to condemn the nationwide immigration crackdown.

“Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say: ICE out,” Bad Bunny said. “We’re not savages. We’re not animals. We’re not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans.”
