Fox & Friends viewers are turning on Kristi Noem after she announced Homeland Security’s new stipend.

The 54-year-old Secretary of Homeland Security appeared on Fox News‘ morning talk show, Fox & Friends, on Monday, December 22, to discuss the DHS’ 2025 accomplishments and new initiatives, including the holiday stipend.

Noem announced that the DHS will give illegal migrants a $3,000 holiday stipend if they self-deport by December 31. She urged those who are in the U.S. illegally to go to the department’s app to sign up to be assisted with reuniting with their families.

Fox News posted the moment on their X, formerly Twitter, account for their viewers, but most were unimpressed with the development.

One person wrote in the comments, “If they have to pay them, they are not illegals,” as another said, “Nice, but a drop in the bucket compared to what MN, CA, etc are letting them have for staying.”

A third argued, “I don’t like the idea. However, it’s cheaper than rounding them up. So, I would just say, make sure they’re getting on the plane.”

A fourth penned, “Why have we already given trillions of taxpayer dollars to these criminals? What’s a few million more?”

Yet another slammed, “How about giving that to Americans for putting up with them?”

However, there were a few who supported Noem and the DHS’ move. One said, “Nice, get some money, and not have to go through the indignity of being arrested and deported. They should take the deal.”

Another said, “That’s a little more than before, I think it was $2k recently. This is really good – they could get up and GO home get some cash!”

During her interview on Fox & Friends, Noem said, “Well, it’s home for the holiday season. So, not only are we returning those kiddos back to their families that Biden lost, we also are saying that if you voluntarily want to go home now to your country, if you’re in this United States of America illegally, we will give you $3,000 through the holidays to send you home.”

She added, “We’ll buy you a ticket, give you $3,000 to go home, and that includes people who have not been detained, maybe have interacted with us, are detained and don’t have criminal charges aginst them, yeah, raise your hand, we’ll help you get home, we’ll facilitate it, and you might get the chance to come back to this coutry the right way some day.”

Noem concluded, “If you wait until later to do and we detain you, and arrest you, and have to deport yourselves, you’ll never get the chance to come back, so, go on the CBP home app and get the information and we’ll make sure you get home on time for Christmas.”

The secretary also discussed the suspension of the green card lottery due to crime, and the U.S. pressure on Venezuela.

Last week, Noem said that President Donald Trump had ordered her to direct United States Citizenship and Immigration Services to pause the DV1 diversity visa program that allowed the suspected Brown University shooter into the country in 2017.

“The Brown University shooter, Claudio Manuel Neves Valente entered the United States through the diversity lottery immigrant visa program (DV1) in 2017 and was granted a green card,” Noem wrote in a social media post. “This heinous individual should never have been allowed in our country.”

Neves Valente had studied at Brown on an F1 visa and eventually obtained legal permanent residence status in September 2017, according to U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Leah B. Foley.

He was found dead last week in a New Hampshire storage facility, five days after the fatal shootings at Brown University.
