Contestants on the music competition seek the opportunity to open for country star Keith Urban, who serves as one of the judges for the show.
Blake Shelton will also have a role, but mainly worked behind the scenes to bring the reality show to life. There was speculation that he would return to The Voice for a few episodes to fill in for Kelly Clarkson. She briefly took a step back from the reality show after her ex-husband’s death in early August. Jennifer Hudson replaced Kelly Clarkson for a few episodes instead.
