Robin Roberts was on Good Morning America this week and made a surprising revelation. The team was talking about a new trend in America where husbands and wives actually live apart. Robin admitted that this was the living conditions with her wife, Amber Laign, but she also said this wasn’t their choice.
Here is why Robin said she and her wife are not living together right now.
Robin Roberts Explains Living Conditions With Wife
Robin Roberts married her wife Amber Laign in 2023 at a great wedding at Robin’s home. The couple are often seen together, travel together all the time, and often have wonderful vacations together. However, Robin just revealed on Good Morning America that they don’t live together.
This revelation came during a story that Eve Pilgrim presented on GMA. Eve said there are more couples today who are in “fully committed relationships” who have chosen to live apart intentionally. They said this is also the case for many celebrity couples. The report said it is a growing trend, and millions of Americans have chosen this lifestyle.
Sheryl Lee Ralph (The Talk) said that is how she lives her life in her marriage. “He has his own life. I have my own life. When I go to see him, I love to see him. When it’s time to leave, ‘Bye-bye. See ya soon,’” she said.
This is when Robin Roberts spoke up and admitted that this is not a lifestyle for everyone. This is when she explained how she and Amber are living, although she said this was not the same situation as the couples in Eve’s report.
Why Does Robin Roberts Not Live With Her Wife?
Robin Roberts said that she and Amber don’t live together because of their careers. “You know Amber and I [live apart], not by choice, because of the work schedule,” Robin said (via Monsters & Critics). There’s a lot of trust there, and there’s some people from my past I would not have done this with. But she’s the one,”
Throughout their relationship, Robin kept things private anyway. The two got married in 2023, but Robin kept putting it off, but she finally said yes, and the two tied the knot. “It was something we had talked about but we had put it off, [Laign] became ill but…it is saying yes to that next chapter,” Robin said.
Amber had cancer, and Robin stuck with her throughout the entire treatment. This is likely why it probably isn’t easy to not live together, as Robin can’t be there for Amber when she needs it. However, it seems they are making it work for now.
