Savannah Guthrie made a long-awaited return to the Today Show this week. She abruptly went off the air in February after her elderly mother went missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona, in the dead of the night. The police are still looking for Nancy Guthrie, 84.

After a two-month break, Savannah Guthrie returned to the morning news program. However, her colleagues were reportedly given strict orders about how to behave amid her return. Keep reading for all the details.

New Letter Makes Shocking Claim About Nancy Guthrie

The local authorities and the FBI have been investigating Nancy Guthrie’s shocking disappearance for weeks with very few leads. They believe she was abducted from her home in the middle of the night on January 31. She was reported missing the next day. The case has gone cold since the FBI released video in February of an individual in a mask tampering with Nancy Guthrie’s security camera.

However, TMZ has received several communications from a tipster who claims to know where Nancy Guthrie is or where she was last seen. The tipster has requested payment in bitcoin for the information. Yet, the FBI has refused to pay.

TMZ received two new tips this week amid Savannah Guthrie’s return to the Today Show. One letter claims that Nancy Guthrie was last spotted in Sonora, Mexico. The second letter alleges that Savannah Guthrie’s mother is no longer alive. The FBI reportedly refuses to follow up on the leads provided to TMZ.

Today Hosts Under Strict Orders Regarding Savannah Guthrie

Savannah Guthrie reportedly shot down NBC’s plan to make her return a huge event. The network was allegedly planning balloons and flowers to celebrate her return. However, Savannah Guthrie wanted to keep her return as normal as possible despite the circumstances. Page Six reported that the network gave her co-anchors strict orders about her return.

Moreover, the outlet claims that the staffers were told not to bring up her mother’s disappearance. “It was supposed to be business as usual. [Producers] said to act totally normal. ‘Move forward’ is the vibe. It’s been a hard year and a draining time,” an insider revealed.

Missing Anchor Makes Low-Key Return, See Video

According to the source, Savannah Guthrie’s colleagues weren’t supposed to formally welcome her back while on the air. However, Jenna Bush Hager, Sheinelle Jones, Carson Daly, Al Roker, and Craig Melvin stood by her to welcome her home as she went outside the studio to greet the gathered crowd.

Additionally, her first appearance on the Today Show on Monday, April 6, was as low-key as possible. “It is good to be home. Ready or not, let’s do the news,” she said at the start of the show.
