The former Venezuelan President and his wife, Cilia Flores, were recently captured by US forces. After months of preparation, US forces arrived at the Venezuelan President’s residence in Caracas. They had put in months of preparation for this moment.

This operation stunned the world and heightened concerns everywhere as to what the USA was up to. It was clear. They wanted Nicolas Maduro out of his position of power and facing NARCO charges. Members of the Delta Force gave both of them first aid after they had been safely extracted. President Trump described it as “a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader,” following months of military buildup.

Nicolas Maduro And His Wife Plead Not Guilty To Multiple Charges

Many Venezuelans have called for Maduro and his wife to be freed. Popular golf star Jhonattan Vegas was among those who approved of the decision. The couple made their first appearance in Manhattan federal court on Monday on drug trafficking and weapons charges.

Maduro has been charged with narco-terrorism and working with drug cartels to import thousands of tons of cocaine into the U.S. He could face life in prison if convicted.

Nicolas Maduro and his wife pleaded not guilty Monday in Manhattan federal court. The ousted Venezuelan leader told the federal judge he had been “kidnapped” from his home.

“I am president of the Republic of Venezuela, and I am here, kidnapped, since January 3, Saturday,” Maduro told U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein“I was captured at my home in Caracas, Venezuela.”

Hellerstein cut him off and stated that they would discuss “the legal sufficiency of what was done” at a later date. Maduro was not having it. Later on, he added: “I am a kidnapped president, prisoner of war.”

He and his wife are charged with conspiracy to import cocaine and possession of machine guns and destructive devices. Maduro is additionally charged with narco-terrorism conspiracy.
