More than $1.5 million has been collected by a GoFundMe fundraiser, to help support the family of Renee Nicole Good who was shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis
The family of Renee Nicole Good has received more than $1.5 million in donations through GoFundMe in the wake of her tragic death.
The 37-year-old was shot dead by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent on Wednesday, January 7. Good, who was a mother of three, was shot three times in the face at close range as she attempted to move her car and drive away from the agents. Officer Jonathon Ross was identified as the man responsible for firing the shots through her front windscreen.

Hours after her death, a GoFundMe campaign was created to support her wife, Rebecca, and Good’s three children, including her six-year-old son, who is now orphaned. The fundraiser has reportedly amassed more than 38,000 donations in just two days.
The fundraiser originally sought $50,000 to support the Good family as they “grapple with the devastating loss of their wife and mother.”
However, it didn’t take long to surpass that goal, and by Friday, it had raised almost 30 times the original goal. One anonymous donor contributed $50,000.
As of Friday at around 6 pm EST, the total was just above $1.5 million. In an update on Thursday, the organizers of the fundraiser said in a message that they are “brokenhearted and in awe of your generosity.”
Co-organizer Becka Tilsen wrote, “My family met Renee and Becca after they moved to town and became fast friends. Thank you again for your compassion. They feel this tidal wave of care and it really matters.”
Good’s killing has sparked global outrage, with protests and marches popping up all across the country in the days following.

The protests have added to growing tensions between state and federal officials, who have offered extremely different responses to the shooting. Some have suggested that the differing approaches could indicate rumblings of a civil war.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said at a news conference in Minneapolis on Wednesday evening that the ICE shooting was justified, saying, “Our officer followed his training, did exactly what he’s been taught to do in that situation.”
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz have condemned the actions of the ICE officer responsible for killing Good, and the Trump administration as a whole.
Frey defended his emotional response to the shooting on Wednesday, defending his use of the F word in a press briefing days later.
“I dropped an F-bomb. They killed somebody. Which one of those is more inflammatory? I’m going with the killing somebody,” Frey said.
