President Donald Trump is set to tout his first year back in office during his State of the Union address before a joint session of the United States Congress.
Bret Baier was offered Donald Trump insight into the “pain” of the American people ahead of his address before a joint session of the United States Congress.
On Tuesday, February 24, the U.S. president is scheduled to meet with members of Congress to deliver the State of the Union address. During his statement, he is expected to praise his first year back in office before laying out the Republican agenda heading into the midterm elections.
Hours before taking the podium, Trump told reporters he would call for additional tax cuts among the economic-related announcements he is set to make. After hearing the president’s plans for the night, Fox News Chief White House Correspondent Bret Baier shared how the U.S. people are feeling about the current state of the economy.
During the latest edition of America’s Newsroom, Gillian Turner shared the results of a recent poll, which revealed 40% of Americans approve, and 59% disapprove of how Trump is handling the economy.
Before weighing in on the poll, Baier said, “I think that there’s going to be a real significant part of this speech that deals with what they see, what they passed with the Big Beautiful Bill, what people they believe, the administration believes are starting to feel and will feel as the year progresses.

“That consumer confidence number is a good sign as you head into this speech because it was low,” he added.
Baier aids the polls provide a clear sense of how effective the Trump administration’s economic policies have been.
“There are people who are feeling pain from this economy, and you see that in polls all up and down,” the correspondent said.
Baier believes the president will give attention to the current state of the economy but will not spend the whole speech discussing it.

“He has a full plate of issues to deal with — Iran, the fallout from Venezuela, he will react to the Supreme Court and the tariffs, and you wonder how that’s going to go with the Supreme Court Justices, several of them in the front row listening to the speech.”
Baier is expecting to see a “fascinating” speech that “weaves in all of these elements with real people as examples.”
During his speech, Trump will invite several individuals, including Erika Kirk and Sage Blair, to illustrate and highlight his policy themes.
While there will be several individuals defending the administration’s efforts, Democratic lawmakers have invited Epstein survivors and other critics to attend as a form of protest.
