One former deputy FBI director has shared what he believes are the most vital clues to look out for as the FBI has released the first-ever image of a subject in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.

On Tuesday, Feburary 10, four black-and-white images were released picturing a balaclava-clad individual standing in front of Nancy’s home the morning after she was last seen. This comes eight days after Savannah Guthrie’s mother first disappeared in the early hours of Februaru 1, with authorities beliving the 84-year-old was abducted in her sleep.

After these images were released to the public, former deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe shared what he believes to be the five most important clues in tracking down who the potential subject could be. It comes after an investigator revealed the haunting sound that was heard just moments before Nancy’s disappearance.

In an interview with CNN, McCabe shared that investigators should be paying close attention to the individual’s walk, posture, clothes, shoes, and mask.

Speaking on the live broadcast, McCabe said, “It’s up to the public to get eyes on all of this stuff, and particularly this image coming out. And for people who think that anything in this image looks even remotely familiar to them.”

He continued, “The way the person walks, maybe their posture, their clothing, or the shoes they’re wearing, or the mask they put on. Really got to call in with every seemingly small piece of information.”

The figure in the footage appears to be a man wearing a balaclava, black gloves, khaki pants, and a jacket. He is also pictured with a backpack draped around his shoulders. The figure is later seen removing Nancy’s Ring camera from her door.

In the latest update in the case, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department shared, “Working with our partners – as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”

They shared that they have been working closely with private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy’s home that might’ve been lost or corrupted.

Authorities added that they have removed all recording devices from her home in search of lead and that they recovered video footage from “residual data located in backend systems.”

Since the news broke, Nancy’s daughter Savannah reposted the photo onto her personal Instagram pleading for anyone with any information on who the subject might be to reach out to authorities. Along with the photo of the masked subject, The Today Show host captioned, “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home.”
