Donald Trump’s presidential plane ran into some trouble this week. It was forced to turn back shortly after departing for Switzerland, where he was due to address world leaders later on Wednesday.
This situation comes days after he was inside Hard Rock Stadium for the CFP National Championship game. The NCAA sent out a warning of their own for fans to arrive early due to his arrival. Following the contest, it was time for the President to get back to work.
However, a technical issue forced Air Force One to return to Joint Base Andrews. Air Force One was in the air Tuesday evening when it suddenly made a quick turnaround due to a “minor electrical issue.” That was reported by the White House. They added that the decision was made out of an abundance of caution.
Open-source flight tracking data shows Donald Trump’s plane making a turn over the Atlantic Ocean off the easternmost tip of Long Island, New York. That came an hour into the flight.
Many NFL fans might remember that Donald Trump’s Air Force One plane flew over Northwest Stadium last year.
Donald Trump Lands in Switzerland
President Donald Trump had some issues with Air Force One, but he eventually arrived in Zurich, Switzerland, on Wednesday ahead of his scheduled address in Davos. His aircraft turned back and landed at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
The President and those traveling with him boarded another aircraft and continued their journey to Switzerland. This is the second time in recent months that Trump has been forced to turn to a backup aircraft. It happened first during a September visit to the United Kingdom. Trump and first lady Melania Trump safely boarded a support helicopter. The issue came after experiencing a hydraulic issue.
In Davos, Trump is expected to deliver remarks focused on his vision of American dominance. This also includes his desire to take over Greenland. His behavior towards the Danish territory has put him at odds with fellow NATO countries and other allies.
