ESPN analyst Ryan Clark thinks Sherrone Moore failed the black community.
Clark weighed in on the coaching vacancy in Michigan. He also spoke on its potential impact on the representation of black coaches. The former NFL player was quick to claim that Moore won’t be given a second chance.
The fallout is yet to be made entirely clear, as details continue to trickle out. However, his divorce from the Wolverines is clouded in cheating allegations.
“He failed—if these things are true—he failed his family, Clark said of Sherrone Moore. “He failed the young men he was in charge of leading and coaching.”
Clark also spoke on black coaches who will be judged by Moore’s actions.
“So now if you’re Sherrone Moore, who was the first African-American head coach from the University of Michigan. There’s also a community of coaches that would love to follow in your footsteps, that will be partly judged because of your actions.”
“In Romans 3:23, it says, ‘All have fallen short because of sin and have fallen short of the glory of God,’” Clark said on First Take. “So Sherrone Moore will have the opportunity to be given grace by his family, by Christ, but he won’t get a Bobby Petrino revival.
“Right? He will be treated like Mel Tucker. He will be treated like Michael Haywood, who in 2010 was supposed to be the next head coach of the University of Pittsburgh. So I just don’t think we can skip over how serious this situation is for Sherrone Moore and the decision-making in this situation he put himself in.”

The Michigan Wolverines are officially in the market for a new head coach. On Wednesday, the tea relieved Sherrone Moore of his duties.
Michigan AD Warde Manuel revealed the decision to fire Moore was “for cause.” The university investigation found “credible evidence that he engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member,” in a statement.
The controversy took another turn when social media found his mistress. Executive assistant Paige Shiver has since gone private, soon after the news broke.
Hours after his dismissal, Moore ended up in jail on allegations involving an assault.
Moore led the Wolverines to a 16-8 record in the full-time role, but is now without a job after this scandal.
