Live with Kelly and Mark co-host Mark Consuelos shared that his beloved father, Saul, has passed away. He had been sick for some time, but regardless of that, it is never easy to say goodbye. So, when did the family lose its patriarch? Keep reading for more details.

Saul Was A ‘Brilliant’ & Beloved Man

Live with Kelly and Mark hosts and real-life married couple Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos opened up their April 6th show with sadness. Mark’s father, Saul, had passed away at the age of eighty-six. This was heartbreaking for the duo as they simply adored him. It was fresh, but did not happen overnight, as he had been ill for a while. Saul died on March 23rd, and Kelly and Mark paid tribute to him on their morning talk show. They noted that he “passed away peacefully,” which is good to hear, albeit heartwrenching all the same.

Kelly Ripa, who has been married to Mark for nearly thirty years, emotionally remembered Saul as “the greatest person I’ve ever known.” She went on to note that not a day will go by that she will not miss him. Moreover, Kelly stated that their three children, Jaoquin, Lola, and Michael, will always miss their grandpa. Finally, she told Mark that:

“He really is so symbolic of everything you are.”

Mark Consuelos soon went on to share a sweet story of his father. He noted that Saul was very quick-witted. Moreover, he was incredibly smart, and Mark grew up with a lot of “lectures” in his home. That is why he stated that Saul was so “brilliant,” but did add:

“It’s funny, I used to make a joke about my dad — if you asked him what time it was, he would tell you how to build a watch.”

As for the reason why Saul was so into education, he immigrated to America from Mexico as a teenager. Furthermore, he had to fight to get to where he wanted to be and never gave up on the pursuit of learning:

“He came here from Mexico in his early teens, he immigrated here from Mexico. He served his country for 30 years. Ended up at Special Operations Command in Tampa. This young kid from Mexico just got his education from the navy. Was always going to school. Was brilliant. Got his Masters while I was a kid.”

It was never too late for Saul, and it seems that was what Mark Consuelos truly admired about his father. As for his childre with Kelly, as aforementioned, this will be a very hard loss. She noted that they have never experienced a death in their lifetime.

Mark Consuelos has been on television for three decades now. Therefore, viewers feel like they know him as well as Kelly Ripa. To suffer such a great loss is heartbreaking for them to learn of, and they feel horrible. Therefore, they have extended their love and condolences to the family:
