Good Morning America viewers took to social media to call out anchor Sam Champion for some strange behavior after Friday’s show. Many fans have noticed something that he does just about every morning and they called out the GMA anchor to figure out why. Keep reading to see how Sam Champion clapped back.
Fans Call Out Sam Champion For Ridiculous Behavior
Fans took to social media during Friday’s airing of Good Morning America to call Sam Champion out for “ridiculous” behavior. According to some viewers, the way that Sam walks around the set of the morning talk show with his coffee mug is strange.
On Friday, he participated in a Thanksgiving cooking segment with Chef Alison Roman. People who tuned in noticed that the GMA anchor held on to his coffee mug throughout the entire interview with the chef. In fact, the only time that he put the coffee mug down was to eat a piece of turkey with gravy.

Viewers got on X to talk about Sam’s obsession with coffee and holding his mug. “Why is Sam Champion always holding his cup in his hand? He looks so ridiculous,” one person commented on the clip.
Another person added, “Love seeing you on GMA! But why are you always holding a coffee cup as you wander around the set?” They were clearly bothered by the way he chose to hold onto his beverage throughout the morning show.
Sam Claps Back At The GMA Coffee Haters
It didn’t seem to bother the GMA meteorologist though. Sam Champion wasn’t taking the criticism from viewers online. He was quick to respond with a clapback. “Why not. I drink coffee all morning!”
After seeing the comments from viewers, Sam decided to take his response even further. He decided to clap back at the people commenting on his coffee habit by holding his mug a bit differently in another segment he participated in about Christmas trees.
This isn’t the first time Good Morning America viewers have noted Sam’s love for coffee. It has been a topic of discussion before because he is a huge fan of coffee and also collects mugs.
Earlier this year, Sam sported a mug that had a rainbow state of New York on it. He held it throughout the show to present his support for the LGBTQ+ community.

Sam Champion posted a photo of the mug on social media and his co-anchor Robin Roberts was quick to comment. “I want that coffee mug… hook me up, Sam!” He replied to Robin saying that he tried to order her one, but it was no longer being made.
