Lara Spencer is feeling grateful for her Good Morning America family.

Just weeks after the death of her beloved mom, Carolyn von Seelen, the morning show host penned a heartfelt message to her colleagues at GMA who have helped her get through the difficult time.

On Wednesday, March 4, Spencer uploaded an Instagram photo alongside co-anchor Robin Roberts, taken just moments after the two had embraced in a warm hug.

“This is just one moment-after a big hug-caught on camera-but there have been so many-and they have meant the world to me,” Spencer, 56, wrote in her caption on Wednesday, while going on to say, “[I’m] so grateful for the care and love I have received during this time.”

“Thank you gma family. Love you,” she added.

Spencer first announced the news of her mother’s death on Feb. 17, sharing a montage of family photos in an emotional Instagram post at the time.

In her caption, Spencer revealed that her mom died on Friday, Feb. 13, a coincidence that she says von Seelen “would have gotten a kick out of.” Spencer noted in the post that her mom was “surrounded by her children and her beloved rescue dog to reunite with my Dad and our sister Pamela,” when she died.

A cause of death was not shared, but von Seelen had previously gone through treatment for cancer after being diagnosed with a brain tumor, specifically glioblastoma, in 2023. She was 85 at the time of her death.

Last week, Spencer expressed a similar sentiment on Instagram while sharing photos from Florida alongside co-anchor Sam Champion.

“Finally coming out of the fog of grief and so grateful to my GMA family-making me feel warm and loved—even in 42 degrees temps in Florida,” she wrote in the Feb. 26 post, taken from the Loews Miami Beach Hotel.

“No one I would rather be stranded with than this guy,” she added of Champion after the pair was stuck in Florida due to severe snowstorms in the Northeast.

She concluded in her caption, “The pictures tell the story. Thank you GMA family. I love you. 💕”
