Today’s host, Savannah Guthrie, is still searching for her 84-year-old mother, Nancy, after she went missing from her home near Tucson, Arizona, on February 1.

The Today show has named a temporary replacement for Savannah Guthrie as she continues searching for her mother, Nancy.
On Sunday, February 1, the 84-year-old woman went missing from her home just north of Tucson, Ariz. She was last seen at the property on January 31 at around 9:30 p.m.
Since the news was announced, Savannah has been in Arizona with her siblings, assisting the authorities in their search for her mother. Savannah has been absent from work since Monday, February 2, and has also pulled out of hosting NBC’s 2026 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony, which began in Italy on Friday, February 6.
To fill Savannah’s shoes for the time being, Today placed Sheinelle Jones as co-host alongside Craig Melvin for the first week of her absence.
On February 9, Hoda Kotb returned to the show to offer her condolences and fill in for her close friend.
NBC has not said how long Hoda will remain in the interim role, though the former host has said she’s willing to step in for the “family.”

During the February 9 broadcast, she said, “We always talk about our show as a family. We are a family. I’m part of the family. I’m happy to be with you because we show up for each other.”
Concern first grew Sunday morning when Nancy failed to attend her local mass on Sunday, February 1. The Pima County Sheriff’s office has since deemed her home a “crime scene” after discovering concerning evidence inside the property.
Officials believe she was abducted during the night, suggesting she did not “voluntarily walk out of her home.
“We do believe that Nancy was taken from her home against her will, and that’s where we’re at,” Sheriff Chris Nanos admitted.
“We know she didn’t just walk out of there,” Nanos added. “She couldn’t walk 50 yards by herself.”
Speaking to the Daily Mail, a source also explained, “She didn’t take any of the things you would normally take if you voluntarily went out.”

Savannah broke her silence on the matter on Monday, February 2. She took to Instagram to say, “We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him.”
The host added, “Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.”
Savannah has remained persistent in her search for her mother, with her latest plea posted on Monday night.
She shared a video on Instagram, saying her family believes Nancy “is still out there.” She also urged her followers to report anything “strange” to the police.
The anchor ended the clip with a plea, “We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help.”
