Caleb Flynn previously appeared on Season 12 of American Idol, where he gushed over his wife Ashley, who was recently murdered in their home in Tipp City, Ohio.

Tom Llamas has shared the news of an American Idol alum who has been charged with murder.

On the Monday, February 23 episode of NBC Nightly News, the host broke shocking news about Caleb Flynn, a former contestant who appeared on the reality competition in 2013. Over the weekend, the 39-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife, Ashley, at their home in Tipp City, Ohio.

Tom shared that Caleb has now been charged with murder, two counts of felonious assault, and two counts of tampering with evidence. He also shared the “chilling” 911 call the former contestant made on February 16, the night of the incident.

 

The almost eight-minute call began with Caleb crying, pleading, “Somebody broke into my home and killed my wife. Please, please hurry.

“She’s got three shots to her and blood everywhere,” he mentioned. “Her face is white. I don’t think she’s breathing.”

The caller told the dispatcher he was with their two daughters when the shooting happened, but he was making the call from their bedroom, where he found Ashley dead.

Tom said, “Ashley, baby, baby, please. Oh my God!”

Three days later, the former contestant was taken into custody and charged with murder. He has since gone before a judge and pleaded not guilty to all charges and is being held on a $2 million bond.

While speaking to Judge Samuel Huffman, he said, “I just want to take care of my daughters. I’m not a risk.”

The anchor noted the news comes as a “dramatic turn,” especially considering his praise of his wife on Season 12 of American Idol.

In a 2013 video posted to the show’s YouTube channel, he said, “The thing that makes me unique … I absolutely love the Lord. I love my wife more than anything. She is very, very, very pretty. I’m just a normal person who absolutely loves to sing more than anything in the world.”

Ashley’s family has spoken out about her death. In a statement, they shared, “Our hearts are shattered.”

“Ashley brought endless light to our world, and we are trying to navigate this immense loss,” they continued.

Her family trusts the authorities and their decision to arrest Caleb.

“Our family believes this arrest was made carefully and not without serious consideration,” they said. “After speaking with both local police and federal authorities, we trust the proper steps were taken, and the process is being handled appropriately.”
