The Pima County Sheriff’s Department have shared an update on Sunday, February 8, as the search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother continues.

In an email sent to press, the authorities confirmed that Savannah and her relatives have made a vital decision after sharing a new video on Instagram on Sunday evening.

The statement read, “At the request of the Guthrie family, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department will maintain a presence at Nancy Guthrie’s residence for security purposes going forward.

“Members of the media and the public are reminded that all traffic laws and private property laws must be followed. No trespassing is allowed on Nancy Guthrie’s property. Violations will be subject to enforcement,” the statement continued, before adding, “We appreciate your cooperation.”

It comes after aerial images captured on February 7 showed just how isolated Nancy Guthrie’s home in Arizona actually is.

The 84-year-old, who has been missing since February 1, lives alone in a ranch-style brick home located in the Catalina Foothills, an unincorporated community about six miles north of Tucson, Arizona.

Nancy has owned the property, which features a swimming pool and outbuilding, for more than 50 years and it’s said to have been the childhood home of her children.

In the recently photographed images of Nancy’s home, the stunning house can be seen nestled in the vast, desolate desert, which stretches for what appears to be miles around the property line.

And while other homes can be seen dotted around the neighborhood, they are separated by sandy areas, which are covered with dense trees and bushes.

After Nancy was reported missing on February 1, cops returned to her home in Tucson, Arizona, on February 4. Pictures from the scene showed several officers searching the woodland surrounding the home, with search dogs also present.

The property was also taped off to block access. Legal expert Chad D Cummings spoke with The Express US to suggest a possible reason for the new search days after Nancy was kidnapped.

“Police at the home again is not unusual per se,” Cummings, who is not involved in the case, explained. “Investigators rewalk scenes after reviewing phone records, financial logs, security footage, and prior calls to place earlier evidence into the newly-gained context.”

Nancy’s kidnapping has understandably sent shockwaves through the local community with neighbors placing a wooden board outside Nancy’s house with a message of solidarity for the family.

The board features the words, “Dear Guthrie Family, Your neighbors stand with you.” The board also features a series of bows and hearts. Following the receipt of the ransom letter, which had been sent to the media earlier this week, Nancy’s children, Cameron, Annie, and Savannah, posted a video on Instagram on February 7 begging for the captors to return their mom.
