Today Host Craig Melvin Reveals Co-Host’s Huge Secret Live On Air
Craig Melvin has been with the Today Show since 2018. He was promoted to Savannah Guthrie’s co-host of the show’s first hour in 2025 when Hoda Kotb retired. He also hosts the show’s third hour. Despite his experience, he made a major mistake during Wednesday’s episode.
The morning news program recently welcomed Savannah Guthrie back after a two-month absence. She temporarily left the show in February after her elderly mother went missing. Nancy Guthrie still hasn’t been found, but the news anchor felt it was time to return to her job.
Craig Melvin was at her side when Savannah Guthrie returned on Monday, April 6. The mood was somber but hopeful. Savannah Guthrie reportedly wanted everything to return to normal on the show and things were back in the groove by Wednesday’s episode.
Craig Melvin and several of his co-hosts began talking about the upcoming The Devil Wears Prada sequel. The first film became a cult classic after Meryl Streep’s interpretation of a character supposedly based on former Vogue editor Anna Wintour. The first movie gave Anne Hathaway’s career a huge boost, as well.
They both return for the sequel. The Devil Wears Prada 2. The sequel hits theaters on May 1, but Craig Melvin dropped a huge spoiler while live on the Today Show. He revealed that one of his co-anchors makes a cameo in the movie.
“By the way, you know how that movie’s going to be good?” You know how I can tell? JBH is in it!” he said. JBH is, of course, Jenna Bush Hager. Her mouth dropped open in shock at the spoiler.
Savannah Guthrie Roasts Him For Slip Up
Jenna Bush Hager did not expect Craig Melvin to reveal her secret. Quick-thinking Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker took turns roasting him. “This is live. You cannot tell Craig anything,” she said. He defended himself and said he thought it was common knowledge about Jenna Bush Hager’s appearance in the film.
“It is now!” Al Roker joked. Savannah Guthrie wasn’t done poking fun at Craig Melvin’s slip-up. “Why don’t you read your journal while you’re at it?” she teased.
Jenna Bush Hager might have hinted at her role in the upcoming movie by dressing Anna Wintour for the Today Show’s Halloween episode in 2025. Savannah Guthrie dressed as Meryl Streep’s character, Miranda Priestley.
According to the synopsis, Miranda Priestly struggles with the decline in print media in the sequel. The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters on Friday, May 1.
