Twenty-three days have passed as search and rescue teams continue to look for Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing from her Arizona home since February 1

A volunteer involved in the search for Nancy Guthrie shared an emotional message to viewers as fears mount about the ongoing investigation scaling back.
The hunt for the 84-year-old mother of Today Show host Savannah Guthrie, who has been reported missing on February 1, continues on Day 23. Law enforcement has indicated that Nancy was likely taken from her home in Arizona against her will.
Traces of blood discovered on her front porch were subsequently confirmed through testing to belong to Nancy. This comes after an ex-FBI agent revealed the hidden codeword that Savannah used in her message to the kidnappers.
During Fox News‘ broadcast on February 23, Fox and Friends correspondent Max Gorden spoke with the volunteers who are looking for Savannah’s mother on their own.
Gorden said, “Over the weekend, a small group of civilian searchers looked nearby. Take a listen to why some of them came out.”
“If it was my mom, I’d want someone to search,” a volunteer stressed.

“Try to help find her. And bring her home,” she added.
Another volunteer added, “We’re out here just to support. And just be here as moral support. And see if we can find anything and help out as much as we can.”
Gorden went on, “The group focused on areas besides local roadways. They did find a backpack, but it was determined by law enforcement to be unrelated to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.”
“Still, Pima County Sheriff’s Department is telling people that might want to go looking for Nancy Guthrie on their own, they need permission before going on private land. They should leave the work up to professionals,” he advised.
This comes as fears for the search for Nancy Guthrie may soon be scaled back as the search for the missing 84-year-old enters its fourth week, with no breakthroughs in the investigation.
“The Sheriff’s Department insisting there are no changes in resources, saying that several hundred law enforcement remain dedicated to the case,” Gordon said.
“All evidence from the crime scene and search warrants has been submitted for analysis, with lab experts running DNA tests.”
On February 10, black-and-white surveillance footage was released of the masked individual tampering with Nancy’s doorbell camera.
“Among the key questions here, who is the masked man seen on Nancy Guthrie’s doorbell?” Gorden asked before closing his segment.

On February 21, the investigation might reportedly transition to a smaller, long-term task force after key leads came up empty, according to ABC News, citing “sources with knowledge of the case.”
Officials have also stated that no plans are currently in place to reduce the resources dedicated to the search for Nancy, and that the press will be notified should that change.
Sheriff Chris Nanos, who is cooperating with the FBI, is in charge of the investigation. He publicly pledged to locate Nancy.
Nanos told NBC News, “We’re not quitting. We’ll find her.”
