Bad Bunny seemed to address all of the MAGA backlash he’s gotten for performing at the 2026 Super Bowl amid his halftime show performance.

Latin superstar Bad Bunny seemed to have the best response to MAGA critics who have heavily opposed him being the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show performer.
After months of anticipation and consistent complaints from conservatives over the 31-year-old Grammy-winner’s NFL performance, Bad Bunny made his Super Bowl headliner debut on Sunday, February 8. The Puerto Rican-bred rapper’s entire set paid homage to his boricua roots, and honored his Latin heritage, incorporating much Spanish-style dancing as he performed fully in Spanish.
Even though the King of Latin Trap kept much of his show in a separate language, he made sure to keep one specific message in English so any MAGA American watching would be able to understand exactly what he wanted to convey.
Above the stage where Bad Bunny was performing, a marquee read: “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.”
The sign seemed to be a response to those who were still upset that he got the halftime show slot.
Bad Bunny took many hits from MAGA America up until the Super Bowl. Many right-wingers believed that he shouldn’t have been picked to headline the NFL championship game, mainly because of the claim that he wasn’t an American citizen.
The only thing is, he was born and raised in Puerto Rico, which is considered a U.S. territory, so he is an American citizen. Conservative personalities, such as former talk show host Megyn Kelly, were among the main far-right Republicans who publicly slammed Bad Bunny headlining the Super Bowl.
Shortly after it was announced that Bad Bunny would headline the Super Bowl in late September 2025, Megyn said on her self-titled SiriusXM radio show: “This is an active middle finger to all of MAGA and the right wing by putting this guy who likes to dress in women’s dresses and who hates the United States so much he won’t come here because he’s worried about ICE raiding his concert.”
This upset within the MAGA community was so visceral that the conservative organization Turning Point USA, now helmed by founder Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, launched an alternative Super Bowl Halftime Show that aired at the same time as Bad Bunny’s Sunday performance.
Despite the raucous MAGA kept up surrounding Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl show, many more were still stoked for it and enjoyed watching it.
Throughout his performance, fans stayed on X (formerly Twitter), raving over his halftime show. One X user wrote, “That’s how you represent your culture on one of the Biggest stages in the World. Amazing Performance from Bad Bunny. #SuperBowl.”
Another expressed: “Great halftime show by Bad Bunny !#BadBunny #SuperBowl#NFL.
