Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show has sparked controversy with a ‘height requirement’ that’s left fans feeling anxious and excluded.

With the Super Bowl show just weeks away, fans have been puzzled after spotting online job postings that include specific height restrictions for those hoping to participate in the performance.

Two distinct recruitment notices have surfaced online, making it clear that shorter Bad Bunny supporters need not apply.

While applications for the on-field crew have since closed, the original postings demanded that candidates measure between 5-foot-7 and 6 feet tall.

The second listing for the “field cast” was even more restrictive, requiring applicants to stand between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-1.

Disappointed fans of the Puerto Rican superstar flocked to X to voice their displeasure about the height stipulation. One fan lamented, “Finding out I don’t meet the height requirement to be part of the Super Bowl Halftime Show with Bad Bunny is some of the worst news to start the year with.”

Another chimed in, “Damm bad bunny having 5’7 height requirements… There goes my chances.”

The on-field crew has been recruited as “part of the core team responsible for on-field assembly and disassembly of the halftime show stage.”

The field cast, on the other hand, will share the stage with Bad Bunny during his performance. A job posting from Backlit LLC states: “Field Cast will be on the field as performers in the halftime show, learning and executing blocking and movement alongside the headlining artist.

“This is a disciplined role that requires focus, athleticism, and commitment as part of one of the most-watched live productions in the world.”

The listing further clarifies that participants will not be dancing but “will be performing structured movements and blocking as part of the larger production.”

Applicants are asked to have a “marching arts background” and experience in “marching band, color guard, drill team or similar” activities.

Drill teams typically enforce strict height standards, with the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon requiring members to stand between 5-foot-11 and 6-foot-1.

Speaking to USA Today on Monday, January 12, a Backlit representative confirmed that “height requirements will be very important for participation on this one and will be verified through the rehearsal process.”

The height specification matches Bad Bunny’s stature of 5-foot-11.

While Bad Bunny’s halftime show booking generated some backlash, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell stood by the decision.

Speaking at an October 2025 press conference, he stated: “We’re confident it’s going to be a great show. He understands the platform that he’s on, and I think it’s going to be exciting and a united moment.”

He further stated, “I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism. It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching.”
