Kelly Clarkson opened up about the prize money she was promised on American Idol.

The Since U Been Gone singer won the first-ever season of the iconic singing competition show, beating out second-place winner Justin Guarini in 2002. However, the topic came up 24 years later when chatting with the winner of the latest season of The Traitors, Rob Rausch, on Kelly’s talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Rob said that he had yet to receive his prize from the show, a whopping $220,800. Kelly said she could “relate to this so hardcore” as she didn’t get the promised $1 million or new car from Idol.

“They were like, ‘Oh you win a million dollars or whatever, da da da,'” she said. “No, you didn’t. They lied. You did not, no. It was like a million dollars worth of investment in you.”

About the promised car, Kelly said she didn’t receive that either, even though she would have benefited from it. She said, “I needed it, ’cause my car is bashed in and I couldn’t afford the deductible.”

Kelly then shared her annoyance as she revealed that Clay Aiken, who was the runner-up of season two, got a car from the show, and so did his mother.

“Clay Aiken, who didn’t win the second season, got a car and his mom,” she said before adding an unfiltered six word eraction, “I was like, ‘What the f—?'”

She added, “I remember Clay telling me that the second season. He was like, ‘Yeah, they gave my mom one.’ I was like, ‘I’m gonna actually kick your a– right now.'”

Rob might not suffer the same fate, as previous winners of The Traitors expressed it took some time for them to receive their winnings.

But Kelly didn’t lose out, as she became one of the most recognizable people in the music industry. Her career has spanned decades and has sold over 82 million records worldwide.

The singer also boasts three Grammy Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, four American Music Awards, eight Daytime Emmy Awards, and her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
