Weatherman Rob Marciano will be returning to television a few months after exiting ABC News. Notably, Marciano starts this new job after around ten years of working for ABC News. Marciano’s first day was already a notable one, with the weatherman covering a prominent storm.
Marciano’s First Day Started With A Hurricane
Marciano has worked for many prominent news organizations over the years, He started his career working as a meteorologist for KPLC-TV. In 2003, he went on to work for CNN. In 2012, he became a co-anchor for Entertainment Tonight.
One of his most prominent jobs would be joining ABC News in 2014, working on weather coverage for Good Morning America. Marciano lasted nearly a decade with ABC News until his exit in 2024.

However, since then, Marciano has found a new job at CBS News. Notably, his new job was announced less than a year after he had been let go from Good Morning America. He first appeared during the October 8 episode of CBS News. He could be seen covering Hurricane Milton while in Tampa, Florida.
Promoting his new job, Marciano also shared a photo of the CBS News coverage on Instagram. He captioned the post, “Back to work… be safe Florida.”
Marciano’s Fans Showed Their Support On Instagram
Many of the weatherman’s fans took to comment on the post how happy they were to see him again. As one user wrote, “Best wishes Rob. Missed seeing your [excellent coverage]! [You] are the BEST! !Stay safe!!”
Another user wrote, “You’re the Best, Rob. Portland misses you!” Some specifically said they would watch CBS News just to see Marciano. As another user wrote, “Rob!!!!!! Looks like I’m changing stations. Welcome back.”
CBS Evening News later uploaded a video of Marciano covering Hurricane Milton’s path. Marciano later followed up the post with a video giving viewers a glimpse inside the eye of the storm. As he captioned, “Inside the eye of Hurricane #Milton for weather geeks, it’s the #HolyGrail … complete calm.”
Marciano’s new role somewhat reflects the changes that CBS News has recently undergone over the past few months. Another joining the company is Jericka Duncan, who was recently named an anchor for CBS Weekend News.
As noted by Deadline, the company has been impacted by layoffs from Paramount Global. Among those leaving include CBS Saturday Morning co-host Jeff Glor, senior consumer investigative correspondent Anna Werner, and senior national and environmental correspondent Ben Tracy.
