A three-hour search took place at Annie Guthrie’s home late on Saturday, February 7, as flashes could be seen coming from inside the property.

Sheriff’s deputies were examining the residence in Tucson, Arizona, one week after her mom 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie was last seen before her shocking disappearance.

Nancy was reported missing on February 1 after not attending her usual Sunday morning church service. After a fellow congregant became concerned, Nancy’s family was contacted, and after calling the police, it was discovered that she had been kidnapped. 

Nancy’s daughter, Annie, and her son-in-law, Tommasso Cioni, were the last people to see her, with the latter dropping Nancy off at her home following a family dinner on January 31.

Following Nancy’s disappearance, Annie, along with her sister, Today Show host Savannah Guthrie, and their brother Cameron, shared videos directed at their mother’s captor.

In the videos, they begged for Nancy’s safe return, with Savannah saying, “We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”

However, on the same day the trio posted their second video (February 7), law enforcement officials could be seen searching Annie’s house.

Late on Saturday night, police officers renewed their search for evidence at Annie’s Tucson home, and could be seen taking photographs inside the property at approximately 10:30pm local time.

A mysterious silver briefcase was also reportedly carried inside the resident by an agent, with reporters at the scene struggling to see what was being photographed inside Annie’s house.

Sarah Rumpf Whitten of Fox News shared a video to X which showed the flashes going off inside the home, with the journalist reporting that they seemed to be coming from inside the garage. She then noted that unmarked police cars were also present at the scene.

Brian Entin, a News Nation journalist, was reporting from the scene as well. He, too, said that flashes could be seen coming from inside the house.

Taking to X, he wrote, “Flashes still going off in Annie Guthrie’s home. Definitely taking photos.” Beitan also remarked that investigators appeared to have been inside the home for “three hours.”

A third journalist, Michael Ruiz, from Fox News, further questioned why officers returned in the dead of night to take photographs of the home.

“My question is why would you go back to take photographs in the dead of night?” he asked on X, after telling his followers how reporters had been kept at a distance from the home.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has not yet revealed what officers were looking for inside the home, and the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance continues.
