Fox News alum Jesse Watters has been known for his work with a variety of the network’s shows. However, his comments have not always been without controversy. Recently, Watters received some backlash on social media following certain comments concerning women while discussing a current event.
Jesse Watters Is Known For The Five & His Namesake Primetime Series
Watters was introduced to many through his “Watters’ World” segment on The O’Reilly Factor. This was later spun off into his own show.
In 2022, Watters later became the host of the eponymous program, Jesse Watters Primetime. Designed to resemble a sports show, this New York-based series is made up of a number of current event-themed segments. In addition, he is also known for his role on The Five, joining as a co-host in 2017.

During a recent episode of The Five, airing on January 14, Watters caused an uproar after sharing a certain theory. This came out after a recent conversation on his show.
While speaking to his co-host, Jessica Tarlov, Watters shared, “Betty Johnson, last night, said on my show, something very interesting, a very interesting theory.”
“A lot of these women are single, so you have this instinctive motherhood that’s really not been able to be expressed. So, they are trying to wrap their arms around the immigrant community and protect them, and it’s very, very dangerous, Jessica.”
During the episode, the co-hosts were discussing anti-ICE protests following the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Good by an ICE Agent. Good, a mother of three, had been shot while sitting in her car. As noted by The U.S. Express, she has since been labelled a “domestic terrorist” by the Department of Homeland Security.
Some Comments Also Shared A Few Kind Words For Watters’ Co-Host During The Moment
As Watters continued, he claimed that some women needed to be protected, whether or not they needed it. Tarlov responded to this, claiming both Watters and the president have made similar comments. However, Watters cut her off. As he continued, “We will protect you, but we’re not going to protect the killers that came in from Mexico.”
Tarlov ultimately gave a tongue-in-cheek response to Watter’s comments, saying, “I’m good.” She could also be seen rolling her eyes at her co-host.
However, Tarlov wasn’t the only one who took issue with Watters’ comments. Taking to social media, various commenters also shared their own reactions to the discussion.
This isn’t the first time Watters has been criticized for comments concerning gender. Back in March, he listed five “rules for men,” while on The Five. At the time, this included things like eating soup in public or drinking milkshakes, describing the drink as being “for kids.” As noted by The Independent, he was similarly criticized on social media. At the time, one commenter shared on social media, “Just drink the milkshake, Jesse. Nobody cares.”
With this recent conversation, some accused Watters of “mansplaining” during the conversation. A few commenters even had words of praise for Tarlov for keeping her cool during the discussion. Some comments included:
- “Only small men talk like that. He’s pathetic and weak. Jessica has some serious kahones to continue to sit there next to that festering boil on a regular basis.”
- “That’s a crazy take – people are just empathetic.”
- “Don’t you just hate it when Jesse mansplains to us about how we feel about anything, let alone motherhood?”
