Blake Shelton kicked off his extended Las Vegas residency, taking a jab at Dry January, calling it ‘stupid’ during his No. 1 chart celebration.
Blake Shelton returned to Las Vegas on Thursday with an extended run of his Colosseum residency at Caesars Palace, opening with his signature mix of chart-topping hits.
The country star took the stage with Pour Me a Drink, his CMA Award-winning duet with Post Malone, hoisting a dark cup to the crowd before launching into his musical set.
“I hope you guys aren’t doing that no drink January or whatever the hell that stupid is, man,” Shelton joked to the packed audience. “It’s stupid. This is country music, okay? Take the night off if you are.”
Shelton, 49, previously played six shows in Vegas last year.
This time, his residency stretches through the month, offering an updated 90-minute setlist that blends longtime fan favorites with new material.
Among the additions is Stay Country or Die Tryin’, which became his 31st No. 1 single earlier this week.
“This is the only time during this residency that I’ll be able to say this, but this week, today, we are celebrating my 31st No. 1 song that we just had this year,” he said.
“It’s right now. It’s freaking me out. That’s why I’m saying you guys aren’t doing the no-drink January thing, because I’m celebrating.”
The set also featured tracks from his early days, including Austin, Some Beach, and She Wouldn’t Be Gone, alongside more recent releases like 2024’s Texas.
The show made full use of the Colosseum’s massive screen to match the mood of each performance, with visuals ranging from flowing rivers for God’s Country to prison bars for Ol’ Red.

A softer moment came when Shelton performed Sure Be Cool If You Did under a lone spotlight, while a sentimental highlight arrived with Nobody But You, featuring a prerecorded video duet with his wife, Gwen Stefani.
Between songs, Shelton engaged with the audience, treating the venue like an intimate gathering rather than a sold-out show.
“This is like my big-ass living room in here,” he told the crowd.
“If there’s a song y’all want me to do, shout it out or write it down or something. I’m literally here to play you guys what you want to hear.”
