Fans of The View were not overly impressed on Monday, February 23, when Whoopi Goldberg was noticeably absent from the NYC studio where the show is filmed.

Longtime television personality Whoopi Goldberg is facing scrutiny from fans of The View after the co-host opted to tune in virtually following a blizzard that hit New York City and its surrounding areas.

While Goldberg decided to stay home amid the storm and travel bans, other co-hosts, including Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and guest co-host Amanda Carpenter, all showed up in the studio on Monday morning despite over a foot of snow blanketing the city.

The February 23 broadcast saw Goldberg join from home, forcing the show to be organized in a Zoom-style manner for the day. The audio was also affected as Goldberg, 70, spoke through her computer microphone from her home in New Jersey. It comes after Whoopi sent a damning 2-word message to ‘snowflake’ critics.

 

“Welcome to The View. You know, I’m coming to you remotely because this crazy, historic blizzard that is slamming the East Coast has snowed me in,” she told viewers, before saying the show even told the audience to stay home.

But fans were quick to call out Goldberg, claiming she should have been able to make the trip if her co-hosts did. Taking to X, one person wrote, “Come on now Whoopi…. “If Ana can get in from Miami, you can get in from New Jersey.”

“Whoopi said f— that and we know Joy wasnt coming out in this snow #TheView,” someone else joked.

One suggested, “Everybody knew this weather was coming for at least a week. Why didn’t production put Whoopi up in the hotel?#theview.”

“Good lawd! Not sure what’s up with the format on The View, but it’s like Hollywood Squares took the show on the road and stopped in Uglyville,” one said, commenting on the format of the show.

“Whoopi, why are you not in person with the ladies?” another user asked.

A particularly observant viewer chimed in, “No audience again! Snow related, has to be! I know I didn’t hear the audience. And Whoopi’s remote!”

Fellow longtime host Joy Behar was also missing from the panel, but did not opt to call in for the show. But, the shows longtime fans know Behar is often absent on Mondays, while Goldberg typically takes Fridays off.

The unusual episode comes on the heels of a turbulent week for The View panel, as they welcomed guest host Savannah Chrisley to the show while Alyssa Farah Griffin took maternity leave to welcome her brand new baby boy, Justin Patrick Griffin Jr.

The ABC production faced intense backlash in response to tapping Chrisley as a fill-in, with many viewers declaring they wouldn’t be watching the show at all last week.

It comes after The View fans were left ‘disappointed’ and ‘disturbed’ over Ana Navarro’s controversial comments.
