Today Hosts Discuss Viral Theme Park Moment
The Today Show hosts have stepped up during Savannah Guthrie’s unexpected absence. The popular host has been off the air since February after her mother’s disappearance. Nancy Guthrie, 84, went missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on January 31. The police are still looking for her.
After two months of being with her family, Savannah Guthrie is ready to come back to work. She returns to the NBC morning show on Monday, April 6. In the meantime, the hosts have done their best to bring interesting topics to viewers.
On one recent episode, Craig Melvin, Carson Daly, and Jenna Bush Hager discussed a viral video about an incident at a theme park. A park goer shared a video online of a robot Olaf, a beloved character from the Frozen movies, falling over and losing his carrot nose.
The viral video has over 6 million viewers, including the Today Show hosts. Jenna Bush Hager was upset about poor Olaf’s embarrassing wardrobe malfunction. Carson Daly joked, “With spring around the corner, this just isn’t the best season for a particular Frozen friend.”
Craig Melvin Takes Jab At Rival Network
A lot of viewers found the video hilarious. Social media users took to the comments to poke fun at Olaf’s predicament.

But Craig Melvin took the opportunity to take a jab at a rival network. “That never happens at Universal, by the way,” he quipped. NBC is owned by Universal. Its rival network, ABC, is owned by Disney.
His joke was a subtle but funny insult at the Good Morning America network. NBC, ABC, and CBS are constantly in competition for morning show viewers. NBC and ABC are usually tied or in close competition with each other. CBS, however, often falls third in the ratings. And not just for the morning program. Despite revamping the evening news with Tony Dokoupil, the network still lags behind the others. In fact, Bari Weiss, who took over as CBS News’ editor-in-chief a few months ago, is reportedly on the chopping block amid the disappointing ratings.
Jenna Bush Hager laughed at Craig Melvin’s diss, but Carson Daly didn’t get it and responded with, “‘Cause Olaf doesn’t go to Universal.”
