As we’ve reported, both Al and Deborah have been open about the big changes in their lives right now. Their son, Nicholas, is heading back to college for his sophomore year. They’ve enjoyed having him home for the summer and have made many wonderful family memories.
In one post, Al documented one of the final breakfasts he had the chance to make for Nicholas before he went off to school. On her Instagram page, Deborah opened up about her emotions during this time.

Now, the big day has come. On her Instagram page on Monday, Deborah shared a new post revealing that they said their goodbyes to Nicholas. In her post, she included several nice family photos, documenting the moment for her loyal fans to see.
Then, Al Roker’s wife wrote, “And just like that…summer ends and sophomore year begins. My heartache, soothed by my guy’s happy smile. Life is suddenly quieter.”
The emotional mama kept it positive. She added, “But for the first time, no big tears. Just contentment that we are all where we belong.”

The talk show stars aren’t alone in feeling emotional about their son heading to college, of course. Many fans can relate. One of Deborah’s followers said, “Such dear times. We do the same thing next weekend. Hope to have your resolve when it comes to crying.”
